Lauricidin

Lauricidin is the original Monolaurin – lipid extract obtained from coconut oil.

Monolaurin

Monolaurin is also known under the name Glycerol Monolaurate and is a mono-ester of glycerol and lauric acid. Monolaurin is naturally occuring in coconut oil and is very similar to monoglicerides in breast milk.

When taking lauric acid (e.g. coconut oil), the body converts it to Monolavrin. Due to poor conversion, consumption of coconut oil becomes impractical for therapeutic effects as you would have to consume as much as 100 to 300ml daily.

Monolaurin is safe to use and has a status of GRAS (generally recognized as safe).
