Jarrow Formulas Ubiquiol (reduced coenzyme Q10)
Jarrow Formulas HQ Absorb® is a special (reduced) Form of the Q-10. The reduced form is easier to absorb and therefore with HQ-absorb you can achieve higher blood levels than with any standard Q-10 supplement. The product is produced with the patented proliposomal system of delivery of the coenzyme Q10 into cells
The problem of dietary supplements with coenzyme Q10 is in its absorption and cell delivery as it is absorbed in very small quantities (typically below 5%). Improved forms of absorption and delivery, such as Kaneka (Q absorb), are essential for the efficacy of oral Q10. Q-Absorb is absorbed 3 to 4 times better than other formulas of Coenzyme Q10. HQ Abosorb from of Q10 however is further reduced, which makes it largely stable so it won’t get destroyes in the digestion. The delivery to the cells is therefore improved, but also the efficiency.
HQ-Absorb is located in small, smooth softgels in an olive base, which facilitates swallowing and improves absorption.
With improved absorption, you need a smaller daily serving, already one capsule is sufficient to raise the blood values above 215% of the baseline and 3 capsules raise it to 777% in the blood.
Jarrow Formulas Ubiquiol QH-Absorb is probably the best form of coenzyme Q-10, that you can currently get on the market.
What is Q10
Q10 also called Ubiqinone is an antioxidant in the human body. The greatest need for CoQ10 have the heart, liver and kidneys.
The body can create by itself and its main duty is the collection of free radicals occurring in the production of energy in the respiratory chain (electron transport chain). The respiratory chain in the human body generates about 95% of energy.
The body produces Q10 through the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase. It is the enzyme inhibited by statins (drugs against cholesterol) because it also produces cholesterol. Statins can reduce the amount of Q10 in the body up to 40%. Similar effects have also beta blockers and other anti-pressure drugs.
Interactions Q10
Be careful since coenzyme Q10 has the potential to reduce the efficacy of blood thinning drugs. If you take such medications, consult your doctor before using Q10.
